On the Sunday after Thanksgiving, I took a break from the Serious Transportation Issues I normally report on for the Maryland in Motion series and went down to Bowie, MD to watch trains with some Serious Train People.

The Sunday after Thanksgiving is extra-popular with American trainspotters/railfanners because, since so many more trains are on the rails, you get to see ones you don’t at any other time of the year. Special kudos to Christopher Moore, not only for his wonderful photos, but for finding Michael Ditkoff perched up in the tower overlooking things. Ditkoff, as you’ll hear, is a gem.
